What is RSI?
Instant spoken translations aka Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) is a powerful solution to facilitate multilingual communication in online events hosted on platforms like Zoom, Cisco Webex, BlueJeans, and others. These tools allow participants who speak different languages to communicate with one another in real-time, without any delay or interruption.
How does it work in practice?
Instant spoken translations rely on interpreters (or oral translators) to convert spoken words from one language to another, in real-time. For example, if a speaker is speaking in English, a participant can listen in Spanish as the remote interpreter instantly translates English speech into Spanish speech, allowing the Spanish-speaking participant to understand the message in their native language. This technology is available in some online platforms like Zoom which enable live interpretation services in multiple languages as provided by human remote interpretation.
Why is it called remote interpretation?
Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) involves a human interpreter who listens to the speaker’s words and translates them into the target language in real-time. The interpreter can be located anywhere in the world and can use specialized software to transmit their interpretation to the participants in different languages. RSI services can be arranged by the event organizers
